ACEMID Cohort Study Hits Major Milestone: Halfway to 15,000 Participants

12 Mar 2025

The Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis (ACEMID) Cohort Study has officially reached the halfway point of its goal to enrol 15,000 participants.

As of the end of February 2025, over 7,500 participants have been enrolled across the country. This marks a significant achievement for the  research effort, which is driven by the vision of a world without melanoma by aiming to reduce melanoma-related deaths through earlier detection, smarter imaging, and equitable access to screening across Australia.

With 15 active recruitment sites operating across Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, the momentum continues to build. Enrolments to date by state are as follows:

  • Queensland: 2,872 participants
  • New South Wales: 2,298 participants
  • Victoria: 2,378 participants

The success of the study so far is a testament to the dedication of site teams, researchers, and participants alike. Recruitment continues to progress steadily, with thousands of study encounters already completed. This milestone brings ACEMID one step closer to realising its goal of transforming early melanoma detection and delivering accessible care for all Australians.
