In a significant step toward combating Australia's most prevalent cancer, ACEMID researchers are proud to collaborate with the Melanoma Institute Australia on the Federal Government’s $10.3 million skin cancer initiative. This funding supports the development of a national targeted skin cancer screening roadmap, and aligns closely with the aims of ACEMID.
The initiative will leverage expertise from organisations across the cancer sector. The skin cancer sector has commenced discussions with the Health Minister to initiate the implementation of this investment and identify additional strategies to improve outcomes across the entire skin cancer care pathway.
This funding will leverage the current NHMRC Synergy Grant, led by Professor Monika Janda and Professor Anne Cust, where ACEMID researchers are aiming to improve risk-based, cost-effective skin cancer screening approaches. These collaborations continue to transform early detection practices, improve healthcare equity, and reduce the burden of melanoma in Australia.
